A record of your studies in the UK

It is possible for students to transfer credits earned on modules completed at the Arts University at College Bournemouth to their own universities.
Do I earn credit for my studies abroad?
Yes. The credits you accumulate while studying abroad with the Arts University College Bournemouth will be recorded. You will receive a transcript of studies.
In the UK, the CATS (Credit Accumulation Transfer System) is being gradually integrated into the European System promoted by the Bologna Process. The UK belongs to the EHEA (European Higher Education Area).
Within Europe, the ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) helps to calculate how many credits from your accrediting university you will need to accumulate.
The North American is another system of calculating credits.
You will accumulate 60 AUCB credits for a semester’s work.
For North American credit transfers
We convert:
1 US credit = 4 AUCB credits
So, normally:
4 AUCB credits = 1 US credit
AUCB credits /4 = US credit
60 AUCB credits /4 = 15 US credits
AUCB credits are numerical values allocated to course units to describe the student workload required to complete them. They reflect the quantity of work each course unit requires in relation to the total quantity of work necessary to complete a full year of academic study at the Arts University College Bournemouth, i.e. lectures, practical work, seminars, tutorials, fieldwork, private study - in library or at home - and examinations or other assessment activities. AUCB credits are thus based on a full student workload and not limited to contact hours only.
120 AUCB credits represent the workload of an academic year of study.
In each term of 10 weeks roughly 40 – 45 credits are awarded = 400 – 450 hours of learning (contact time and private learning).
(1 AUCB credit = 10 hours of work – 10 hours of work, perhaps 3.5hrs contact time).
Each course has a level attributed to it by the Arts University College at Bournemouth. Credits are shown as a guide against each module; we expect you to spend between 15 and 30 hours per week on each course. Depending on when you start and finish we will be able to advise you on your likely hours of study.
