Study Abroad Costume with Performance Design Modules

This unit investigates the major historic dramatic genres and practitioners up to the middle of the twentieth century. The unit directly underpins studio practice by developing knowledge and understanding of the contexts in which costume and set is seen. You will gain knowledge of the related key themes and issues, within relevant dramatic and cultural contexts, which will prepare you for higher levels of specialism.
Outline Syllabus
- An introduction to the historical development of Costume with Performance Design.
- Introduction to research and study skills using traditional and electronic sources.
- Investigation of historical and contemporary practice within Costume with Performance Design analysed within relevant contexts.
- Identification of appropriate primary and secondary sources as an integral part of research.
To be an efficient learner you will need to acquire and develop the necessary research and study skills, including note taking, essay and report writing, academic referencing, reading styles, time management, team work, presentations and research methodologies.
Method of Delivery
Lectures, screenings, staff and student led seminars, tutorials, independent study and educational visits as appropriate.
