In this unit you will direct your own learning. You will continue to develop your specialist knowledge and skills through the study of appropriate historical, cultural and dramatic context, while developing your own personal and professional aspirations. This unit allows you to explore and develop creativity, problem solving skills and autonomous learning whilst further consolidating your professional development planning in your Progress File.
Outline Syllabus
- Introduction to writing learning agreements
- Self initiated research as outlined in the individual learning agreement
- Development of the creative process within the specialist area of performance
- Self initiated enquiry into contextual studies underpinning individual projects as appropriate
- Collaboration/complementarity as appropriate to individual projects
Method of Delivery
Group and individual tutorials and independent study.
Unit Management
You will write a learning agreement detailing the specific requirements of your own project. Each proposal will go to a parity meeting with the course team where the body of work will be considered to make sure the aims and objectives of the unit can be achieved.
Aims
A1 To provide opportunities for self-initiated, autonomous learning and develop the ability to plan time and work independently.
A2 To provide opportunity to study the contextual development of Costume with Performance Design.
A3 To further develop the creative, intellectual and practical applications of research and contextualisation within a self initiated environment.
A4 To propose, develop and evaluate professional aspirations through professional development planning.

On completion of this unit you will be able to:
LO1 Identify and define the context for the development of your own work towards professional aspirations.
LO2 Demonstrate an understanding of the development of Costume with Performance Design.
LO3 Demonstrate creative, intellectual and practical applications of research and contextualisation.
LO4 Consolidate and demonstrate professional aspirations and planning through your Progress File.

This will vary according to the needs of the individual project. You will define Reference Material through personal investigation and consultation with staff and list it in your Learning Agreement.
