Study Abroad Costume with Performance Design Modules

The intention of this unit is to provide the opportunity to develop conceptual approaches and critical problem-solving skills through the exploration of a large dramatic text.
You will be required to research a specific genre in order to develop your specialist discipline. In particular, you will be encouraged to further consider the audience to develop an increased knowledge and understanding of dramatic genres through design communication, costume interpretation or costume supervision. You will apply practical and creative skills gained from previous units and continue to develop these in your chosen specialist area.
Outline Syllabus
- The development of conceptual thinking and creativity though practice
- The gathering and application of relevant research, including primary and secondary sources
- Developing specialist techniques in design, construction or supervision
- Fabric selection, dyeing and manipulation in accordance with the project brief
- Professional presentation of work both visually and verbally
- Project evaluation
Method of Delivery
Lectures, screenings, practical demonstrations, learning teams, self evaluation, independent study, group tutorials and studio practice.

A1 To further develop research skills and contextual knowledge of large dramatic performance
A2 To further extend your creative, intellectual and practical skills through working practice with effective evaluation and reflection
A3 To further develop your analytical and critical responses to research and problem solving related to the development of your own work
A4 To develop technical skills specifically appropriate to your discipline

On completion of this unit you will be able to:
