This unit is designed to give detailed knowledge of the history and theories of architecture and the wider context, including landscape and urban studies. The unit develops further your research, critical and analytical skills. You will formulate the question that will inform your specific line of critical enquiry.
The emphasis is on written presentation and the representation of architecture through text.
Aims
A1 To identify and research analytical themes in architecture and the relevant theoretical and conceptual frameworks.
A2 To develop written presentational skills.
A3 To develop the organisational skills which will enable independent learning and self management.
A4 To demonstrate knowledge of architectural history and associated disciplines.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this unit you will be able to demonstrate:
LO1 knowledge of the various processes and methods of research and critical appraisal.
LO2 ability in the conventions for academic writing.
LO3 knowledge of organisational skill, evidence of independent learning, self-management and critical evaluation.
LO4 knowledge of architectural history and associated disciplines.
