AUCB Study Abroad
Study Abroad Short Courses
Computer Aided Design and Presentation
Study Abroad Modelmaking Course Modules
Credit Points: 15
Study Time: 150 Hours
This unit introduces you to the fundamentals of computer-generated text and graphics and will familiarise you with the use of CAD in a design environment to become more versatile in a variety of 2D and 3D CAD software.
This unit demonstrates the benefits of using multiple CAD packages with a view to combine outputs into a single coherent presentation format. It intends to impart an understanding of the appropriate use of raster and vector graphics in producing both accurate and aesthetically aware presentation material.
Outline Syllabus
An indicative guide to the content covered by this unit.
- Fundamental IT skills
- Digital project workflows
- CAD and its role in the design process
- Digital imaging and composition
- Presentation techniques
- 2D and 3D digital modelling
Method of Delivery
Lectures and demonstrations, seminars, practical studio sessions. Research and independent study.
Aims
A1 To introduce you to the fundamentals of computer use in a design studio.
A2 To explore the creative possibilities of image manipulation and photomontage.
A3 To enable you to present a design concept or solution from several software sources, using a variety of presentation techniques.
A4 To introduce you to 2D and 3D modelling techniques, and the preparation of CAD data.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this unit you will be able to:
LO1 Demonstrate your understanding of organised computer use within a design studio setting through digital project workflow
LO2 Produce visually appropriate, manipulated photomontages images through correct use of software package
LO3 Present a design concept or solution from several software sources, using a variety of presentation techniques
LO4 Demonstrate a critical understanding of 2D and 3D modelling techniques, and the preparation of CAD data.
