This unit explores the role of the modelmaker within the media industries and promotes solutions to be found to complex visual and 3D concepts through problem solving. Using the knowledge of materials and processes learned from previous units, this unit introduces the process of technical design, it demands a keen visual awareness and promotes the practice of visual research, analysis and communication

This unit embeds the archive of knowledge required by professional modelmakers to demonstrate creative responses to the media industries through creative and critical analysis, interpretation, digital and 3D.

Outline Syllabus

  • Investigation and analysis of the visual form through drawing 
  • 3D life sculpting 
  • Expressive and interpretative use of materials 
  • Creative Photography 
  • Interpretation and presentation through drawing and digital means 
  • Realisation of final solution through 3D model interpretation

Aims

A1 To equip you with the practical understanding of the concepts and application of visual language.
A2 To encourage an exploratory approach in developing ideas through creative research and interpretation.
A3 To critically explore, analyse and initiate solutions of 2D and 3D processes through technical design and problem solving.
A4 To explore relevant materials and techniques appropriate to achieve the final solution.
A5 To further technical proficiency and encourage fluency in the creative use of digital media and materials in achieving a visually appropriate solution
