Acting Shakespeare
Duration - 2 weeks
William Shakespeare is widely regarded as the greatest poet and playwright in the English language. His plays, written over 400 years ago, are still performed each year, worldwide, to an appreciative audience of millions.
Join us for an immersive two-week practical workshop exploring the demands of performing Shakespeare’s work. Through specialist movement, voice, singing and acting classes you will build vital skills and understanding, gaining more confidence in and awareness of your own approach to performing these classic plays.
Our course is taught by a team of highly qualified and experienced teacher/ practitioners including ex-RSC actors, who have worked nationally and internationally in theatre, film, television and radio.
This intensive practical exploration, is designed for students of Acting and Theatre Arts at university level who already have some solid grounding in fundamental acting skills or for practicing professionals who want to brush up their skills in performing classical texts.
The two weeks of workshops and scene study lead to a simply staged performance of scenes for an invited audience of fellow Summer School students and staff.
Workshops and classes take place in our specialist performance studios at the University College in Bournemouth.
There will be opportunities to visit The Globe Theatre in London or the Royal Shakespeare Company, the birthplace of William Shakespeare in Stratford- upon-Avon.
